When you decide to replace your old amalgam fillings, you have a choice of composite resin or porcelain. Composite fillings are generally suitable for smaller restorations and we recommend CEREC technology be used for larger and more complex restorations. CEREC restorations are tooth coloured ceramic materials that are bonded to your tooth structure, saving as much of the healthy tooth structure as possible, while providing a natural and aesthetic tooth that has strength and function.
The CEREC system is for the fabrication of all ceramic restorations in one office visit. (The alternative is sending moulds off to a laboratory which could take 1 or more weeks) With CEREC you can be in and out in a single visit, with a permanent, ceramic crown, inlay or onlay. This means less time out of your busy daily schedule.
This technology is used mainly to replace old fillings that have failed from fracture or decay.
